To start a business online or to move our existing business into the the world of virtual reality one must at the very beginning have a website. It is always a good idea to outsource your work to website development services. Website development services include: website development, website design, app development including iphone app development, app design, graphic designs for promotions and customization of websites. So if you are looking for a website design company in Noida, your search has ended here. But even if you were to find an appropriate company for website development or mobile app development, I would say that it is very important to find out what UI and UX mean and how do they function. Very often we are asked the difference between UI and UX! It might sound crazy to few people but these, though are related to each other to some extent (like your cousin whom you see at every family gathering) but they are not actually someone whom we always know inside out. Given a choice, we would like to define it in our own technical way but to you that might sound like jargon, so let’s not go into that path.
May be we can narrate a story and at the end of the story, you would understand the difference between UI and UX.
Ram and Shyam both have individual websites catering to movies. One fine day one of their common friends, let’s say Laxmi needed some information about a particular movie. She knew how passionately both Ram and Shyam were working on their respective websites and thought of giving a visit to both the websites. After all, the more knowledge one could gather, the better!
The movie she wanted to look up was Sholay. Firstly she visited Ram’s website. She was awestruck by all the features the website had. It had voice recognition, so she did not need to type at all, the whole website was super fast, it could move both horizontally and vertically, she could bookmark the pages in the website itself and could save her journey inside the website. This is a classic example of a responsive website.
Great, but guess what, she could not find a single information about Sholay. Heartbroken, she visited Shyam’s website. It took a good amount of time to open the website itself. The whole website was pretty slow, it looked very clumsy and confusing too. She had no idea how could she search any information regarding Sholay. She kept looking for a while and at last, she could dig out some important information about the movie Sholay. So as you can see, these two websites are completely different from each other. The first website had a great interface where the user could easily navigate, it had super cool features which made the website fun to use. The second website, however, did not have those many features but at least it had the information required.
UI is all about the interface. It talks about how easily people can interact inside the website whereas UX is a broader topic. It talks about the experience people have while using the website. UI can be an element of UX but UX is much much broader. Even if a website has a great UI (like Ram’s website), not necessarily the user would have a good experience (Laxmi was heartbroken, remember?)
We hope this would have given a preliminary idea about UI and UX and the difference between these two. You don’t have to consume the whole topic, that is our job but if you understand the basics, that would be sufficient.
Now as we have talked about websites only, there can be other mediums too where the UI/UX should be implemented. For example Mobile app designing, logo designing, infographic designing etc.Even in websites, there can be different types of designing where UI, UX play a major role, for example:
1. E-Commerce Website Designing : since it’s a different ballgame altogether and over here you are targeting the masses.
2. Corporate Website Designing : it’s a dangerous area to play and since the brand equity is at stake, it has to be handled very carefully
3. Custom Website Designing : As the name suggests, custom might include anything and therefore it is even more important to keep an extra check for UI and UX. Since some elements might be uncommon or unorthodox, their interactivity and usability should be tested not once but twice.
4. Dynamic website designing: This is another tricky game . Since the website is dynamic, all elements possible should be tested, again and again, else you never know how the website would react in a specific situation.
Though we mentioned it above, no harm in mentioning again, considering the booming market of mobile phone usage, the mobile apps have huge potential and probably that might the reason businesses often forget to address the real issue an user is facing. Since all these apps are on mobile where people expect that to be more interactive, smart and easier to use, one cannot ignore the importance of UI UX here.
We are a small business, a website and mobile app development company based out of Noida.
